If we allow Democrats and Republicans to conduct business as usual, America's national debt will grow until America fails. We cannot allow this to happen. This plank was deduced from a breakthrough in science. Like using the correct equation when doing math, applying a new understanding of human nature will resolve all of America's social problems. Sending Patriots to Congress will insure politics, big business, political correctness and special interests do not come before America.
We will fix education…
After all the money spent on education, why are so many children under-performing academically? Experience has proven that new buildings and materials, the latest technology, teacher training and higher pay are not the answer.
To date, Spring Theory has been applied. In short, it has been assumed wrongly that children are failing because of hindrances imposed upon them, limiting their ability to spring up and perform admirably. This theory of human nature is wrong, and thus the reason for why society has failed to improve academic performance.
The only way to succeed in fixing the education system is to apply Gravity Theory. According to Gravity Theory, we must make the thought of failing in school more uncomfortable than the discomfort of doing the work necessary to succeed.
For example, suppose a community spends $15,000 per student per year on education. The community can cut spending by $1000 per student and improve results significantly if they give that money to the students based upon performance. Students who achieve an A GPA would receive the full $1000. Students who achieve a B GPA would receive $750. Students who achieve a C GPA would receive $500.
Note: Students must be told the money is their money to lose. The thought of not receiving the money will make them uncomfortable, causing them to work so they do not lose it.
This policy measure will be successful because it is congruent with Gravity Theory. Although it is the job of Congress to hammer out the details, we know how to fix the education system, and we promise to do so within two years if given the opportunity.
…inspire students to lead the world academically,…
Implementing the policy measure proposed in the previous section will improve performance quickly, causing America's children to lead the world academically in just a few years without additional measures. However, it will not instill in the minds of students and their parents the importance of education. Changing the attitude of students regarding the importance and value of education will require an additional tactic to be employed.
With the approval of Congress regarding the details, we will increase the perceived value of education through a national program of public service announcements featuring celebrities in sports and other forms of entertainment. These national role models will tout the importance of education, learning a valuable trade, and becoming a successful businessperson.
A constant reminder that “School is Cool” is the best way to affect change. However, the message must come from those who are successful and respected by students. It will take time, but the message will eventually become believed.
…teach the responsibilities of good citizenship in a
republic,…
Citizens need to know the answers to 4 questions:
Should citizens vote for what is good for themselves and their family, or what is good for their district or state?
Should citizens vote if they are uninformed?
Should citizens attempt to influence legislation between elections?
Should citizens protest in the streets if they do not like what is going on?
The answer to these questions is “Yes” in a democracy and “No” in a republic. Consequently, citizens need to understand their form of government and, therefore, their obligations as citizens.
We will differentiate the forms of government called “democracy” and “republic.”
In both forms of government, representatives are elected by majority vote (a democratic process).
Note: A characteristic other than the way leaders are chosen differentiates a “democracy” from a “republic.”
In a Democracy, the citizen majority makes the decisions after elections are over. If representatives exist, they are obligated to adhere to the will of the citizen majority.
In a democracy, the citizen majority makes the rules for everyone, including citizens in the minority.
Consequently, it benefits citizens in the minority to protest after elections are over. Their goal is to win over enough citizens to become the new majority.
The result is a noisy and emotional society that is divided, inconsistent and inefficient. Moreover, citizens in the minority are always oppressed.
Note: This is why the founders of America abhorred the idea of democracy and why the framers of the Constitution declared in Article IV, Section 4, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government…”
In a republic, representatives do not represent the citizen majority. In fact, in a republic, representatives do not represent the people directly. They represent their district or state. By doing what is best for their district or state, they represent all the people equally.
Analysis
In a republic, the citizen majority has no more authority or power than citizens in the minority. The citizen majority opinion is honored only if it is best for the district or state. As such, in a republic, there is no reason to protest after elections are over because being in the majority does not benefit citizens.
The result is a quiet and calm society that is united, consistent and efficient. Moreover, in a republic, citizens in the minority are not oppressed. In fact, in a republic, there are no minorities because every citizen is equal with one equal voice.
If a republic is to perform as a republic, representatives must operate with autonomy from the citizen majority. If representatives begin to work on behalf of the citizen majority, the republic would perform as a representative democracy. The expected consequences would be a noisy, emotional and divided society that is inconsistent and inefficient. Moreover, those in the minority will be oppressed.
Conclusions
Patriots will encourage citizens to use the proper label “republic” when referring to America's form of government. To refer to America as a democracy suggests representatives honor the will of the citizen majority. Happy for those in the minority, this is not the case. Because America is republic, no citizen is in the minority, even if they should be outnumbered or hold a minority view.
Note: All citizens in a republic are equal with one equal voice. As such, no citizen should ever be referred to as a “minority” regardless of their number.
Because America is a republic (and not a democracy), Patriots will profess it is unpatriotic for citizens to vote for what is good for them personally with no regard for how decisions will affect their district or state. To be a good citizen in a republic, we must look beyond our individual interests and consider also what will empower society and future generations.
Because citizens should be voting for what is good for their district or state (as opposed to what will serve them personally), Patriots will profess that citizens should vote only if they are informed. It is unpatriotic for citizens of a republic to vote if they are politically ignorant.
Because America is a republic (and not a democracy), Patriots will profess it is not appropriate for citizens to put pressure on representatives to shape legislation in their favor. This is a hard concept for some people to grasp because citizens have been encouraged to pressure representatives to appease their wishes.
Note: Putting pressure on representatives distorts their decision-making, causing them to perform more as agents in a democracy (in which the majority or more influential determines the rules) resulting in public policy favoring some citizens over others, namely the majority, the noisy, the wealthy and the most influential.
Because America is a republic (and not a democracy), Patriots will profess the way to protest is to become informed and participate in the elections process. Although protesting in the streets in a democracy may be patriotic, protesting publicly in a republic (other than by way of the voting booth) is unpatriotic.
Note: Some noted politicians have stated “Protest is the highest form of patriotism.” Yet, because America is a republic, just the opposite is true. Politicians who do not know America's form of government should not be elected.
…advocate the importance of becoming and remaining self-reliant and living within our means,…
The importance of becoming and remaining self-reliant
Imagine throwing a house party for 120 guests. Imagine your guests are to come empty-handed. You are to plan the menu, shop for the food, pay for the food, take the food home, store the food, prepare the food, cook the meal, serve the 120 guests, and then clean up. How many of these parties are you likely to hold this year, next year, or ever?
Now change the scenario. Imagine instead you send an email to the same 120 guests with a link to an on-line pot luck sign up page (such as http://perfectpotluck.com or http://signupgenius.com) in which they indicate what they are going to bring.
Then, after the party, you ask everyone to spend just 5 minutes cleaning up – wiping tables, doing dishes, carrying out the trash, sweeping, and so on. The party will cost you nothing and your guests will have saved you 10 hours of work. Under this scenario, how many parties are you likely to throw now?
The point is, if everyone brings something to the party and expends just a little effort, it will save you an enormous amount of time and expense. The same principle holds true for a nation.
To get everyone to participate and contribute just a bit more, we need to apply Gravity Theory and retool the tax code and social programs so that complacency, poor decision-making and bad behavior make citizens uncomfortable. In short, government must insure that citizens are uncomfortable unless they perform admirably.
The importance of living within our means
In the 1940s, most citizens were self-reliant, and they lived modestly. Our grandparents purchased things only when they had the money to do so. If they did not have the money, they went without. It was expected that everyone should be a producer – contributing something of value to society. In addition, you were expected to save for difficult times, which history proved to be a certain eventuality.
Life today is very different than it was 60 years ago. Rather than be modest and disciplined producers and savers, citizens today are nonchalant consumers and spenders. Having become addicted to credit, and with credit so readily available to everyone, delaying gratification has become a thing of the past. Consequently, most people are in debt and a slave to their bills.
It will take a generation for habits to change. Patriots believe Congress needs to lead the way. Financially sound fiscal policy and a debt-free citizenry is the surest way to a stronger America and brighter future for everyone.
…and prepare citizens for personal setbacks and national disasters.
We will encourage citizens to plan for their retirement.
For new workers, Social Security will become an insurance plan only, ending the mis-perception Social Security is a retirement savings plan. As an insurance plan only, Social Security will give aid to citizens who are born with a disability, or who suffer a catastrophic illness or debilitating injury.
Note: Like fire insurance, Social Security will be insurance we purchase yet hope we never need.
Those who qualify for Social Security support should be showered with what they need to become capable of participating and contributing to society.
Living on the edge is dangerous and will eventually result in personal financial difficulties. An accident, sickness or unemployment puts families in a position where they need help from government. As such, Patriots will advocate holding onto used vehicles, downsizing homes, reducing the consumption of alcohol, cutting entertainment expenses, doing one's own yard work and housecleaning, and so on as a means of decreasing expenses and increasing savings.
Patriots will advocate preparedness for citizens in anticipation of regional and national disasters. Everyone should have an emergency plan and acquire the tools, adequate means of protection (with training), and food and water filtration for at least 3 months and, preferably, a year.
Patriots will transfer responsibility for sustenance and comfort from government to charitable groups. For example, FEMA will become a “search and emergency relief” organization only, with sustenance provided by charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the many churches and organizations that enjoy tax free status.
