Faltering Image
After the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. in 1991, America became the lone superpower among nations. Analogous to the animal world, America had become the dominant male of the group.
Today, however, we are not acting like the world's dominant nation. Our political system is in shambles, we are drowning in debt, minority groups are disgruntled, and society is immersed in a culture war over conflicting values and ideologies. To the other nations (analogous to the other animals in our group), the once strong and impervious dominant male appears to be faltering.
We should not be surprised then that other nations feel disdain for America, and that the "contenders" are becoming restless. Observers cannot help the way they see things and how it makes them feel. At a subconscious level, they think the "imposter" should be removed, making room for the "real" dominant male?
If we are to command respect from other nations, and insure peace in the world, we will have to resurrect our image. To do so, we will have to make the following changes:

We must balance the budget and begin to pay down the national debt.
We must decide America's future and make a formal business plan.
We must fix our political system, eliminating the noise, the money, and the vitriol.
We must teach the responsibilities of citizenship in America.
We must settle the debate over the correct view of human nature and aggressively apply the correct view.
We must retool our public programs accordingly, so they become effective.
We must lead the world in academic performance.
We must become energy independent.
We must not let big business undermine social progress for its advantage.
We must not allow religious zealots to form social policy.
We must resolve the controversy over abortion.
We must fix the illegal immigration problem and protect our one American culture.
We must become united over foreign policy.
We must reclaim our inner cities at all costs.
We must be convincing when punishing criminal behavior.
